Why Boudoir Photography?

Sometimes I find it hard to put into words why I shoot boudoir photography. To me, it’s so much more than pretty portraits… it’s about self-acceptance, body positivity, and fine art. It’s about getting glammed up and laughing your butt off. It’s about the transformation that takes place between the time we begin with hair and makeup and walk out after your session. It’s about feeling beautiful, and that is something that every person deserves.

I started shooting boudoir photography because I could see the beauty in everyone. I believed that I could show anyone what I see through my camera lens. People tell me that they feel they can’t look beautiful because the are too tall, or have too much weight, or have too many stretch marks… or something else… Seeing their reactions to their portraits changed me. From that moment on, I knew I had found my passion!

It was now my job to be a mirror for my clients…. the mirror that shows you how you sparkle!

The Transformation

When you arrive for your shoot, you may be nervous… even visibly nervous! Shaky hands and voices, sweaty hands and faces are things I see at times. Once you sit down for hair and makeup, the transformation begins. I can see you shedding those signs and feelings of nervousness!

When the shoot starts, the first series of images is just to get you warmed up. I share the back of my camera, and I regularly hear, “OH MY GOD, that’s me??? NO WAY that’s me!” Then as we work our way through your outfits, the laughter and smiles start to appear! Then the sexy shows up… the eyes especially! That is when I know you’ve arrived!

By the time you’re finished and we go into your reveal, we’re friends! We have shared an experience that you’ll always remember. We have laughed and shared stories!

When you see those images, be prepared for jaws dropping! You’ll see yourself like you’ve never seen yourself before! This is one of the most amazing things about boudoir photography… I get a chance to show you how those around you see you! I get to be that mirror that shows you how you sparkle!

When you leave, you’ll be smiling so big you’ll want to tell the world about what you just experienced!

A Little Piece of My Story

As a mom to three girls, there are things that I could look at and pick apart… but when my hubby sees me, he doesn’t ever notice those things. He’s always telling me how beautiful I am… and the first time I truly could see that for myself was when I did my own photoshoot!

YEP! That’s me!!!

Being in front of the camera is a totally different experience… and it is nerve wracking in the beginning! But getting my hair and makeup done, and then moving on to the shoot, I got to have fun in front of the camera! I love pin up style, and my photographer is known for that style of work… so it was my 40s/50s dream come true!

We were having such a great time! Her words of affirmation and encouragement took me to the next level! Her instructions for moving from here to there were helpful, and all of that together created a beautiful experience.

I was able to keep it quiet… didn’t tell hardly anyone because I knew Christian would find out… so I waited until I had the images and was able to get them printed in an album. His face when he opened the album was something I’ll never forget! He was like a kid in a candy story! My friend Rosie says he looks at me like a cupcake… and that was spot on!

Everyone deserves to have that experience and feel like they are the most desirable! Period!
